Patriots Pen Essay

Authors Note: This is a piece about why I am so proud of our country.

Am I proud of my country?  Well, yes. I’m very proud of my country, think of all the things we’ve accomplished. Our country has won wars, has great achievements, and has the best government.  I am so proud of my country.

First off, we won the Revolutionary War that practically started our country. Outnumbered and with less firepower, we still prevailed. Second, we won World War One and World War Two. Both were two of the biggest wars ever.  Lastly, we won the Vietnam War that went on for nearly twenty years.  I am so proud of everything our country has done.

Even though winning all those wars is something to be very proud of but without the troops who fought in it we wouldn’t have won anything.  Being a soldier is very difficult and requires lots of training.  Then, you have to risk your life on the battlefield.  Also, I am proud of all of the families whose siblings or parents fought in the war. It is very hard for them, too, not knowing how their family is doing or what they are doing.

Although, having all those soldiers is something to be very proud of, there are a lot of other things to be proud of like the peoples safety.   The USA has had the best motor-vehicle safety from 1990 to now on cars and motorcycles.  Also, the USA has the safest workplaces in the world which means people who work in factories don’t get ill as much as other countries people.  Plus, the USA has the healthiest moms and babies because of enhanced hygiene, nutrition, antibiotics, and tools from 1990 to 2000.

In addition to all of those things the USA has a democracy government which means we can all live free.  If we lived almost anywhere else in the world we couldn’t do nearly as many things as we could today in the USA.  The citizens of the USA have the power of speech, we can go anywhere and we do almost anything.  The government we have today lets us choose who our leaders are.

There are all these great things our country has done.  Everything our country has done, I am so proud of.

Saving The Red Eyed Tree Frog

Authors Note: This is a piece about what would happen if the tree frogs died.

The red-eyed tree frog also called the red-eyed leaf frog is a very cool amphibian.  But there habitat is being taken down by deforestation.  Tree frogs are not in danger of extinction but if they have no habitat they will become extinct.  Tree frogs need our help to save them and their environment.

Without tree frogs many insects will be everywhere in the rain forest and around South America.  So many bugs will get so annoying always buzzing around everywhere and biting you.  If that happened many people would leave South America. If tree frogs stayed here all those tiny pests would leave.  That is just one reason of many

Also, if tree frogs were gone the forests will just be boring.  All of those bright colors jumping around wouldn’t be there.  So not as many tourists would come and less money for the travel agencies and hotels around the rainforests.  Plus, scientist would’ve wasted money studying the frogs.

A few more cool facts about tree frogs are that they have mini suction cups on their hands so they can stick to trees and other plants better.  Also, did you know fish, dragon flies and water beetles are part of the tree frog family?  Plus, the frog’s inner thighs are a bluish color.  Finally, some predators of the tree frog are birds, bats, spiders, and snakes.

It would be terrible if we lost all the tree frogs.  Everyone should help stop deforestation so we can save the red eyed tree frogs.  We really need to help the frogs.
